1 day: 24 hours of the full app, every feature unlocked. Start it from the welcome window the first time you open pinhole. No card and no account. One trial per Mac.
Capturing, recording and editing pause until you activate a licence key. Nothing is deleted: your capture history, saved files and settings stay, and you can still open Settings and quit as usual. Buy pinhole Pro, paste the key from your email and everything unlocks again.
$6.99 once for the first 50 buyers (the launch price), then $9.99 once. No subscription. A licence includes every feature and every update to the current major version. The pricing section shows how many launch-price licences are left.
One licence activates pinhole on 1 Mac at a time. To use it on a second Mac at the same time, buy a second licence.
On the old Mac open the pinhole menu bar icon › Settings › Licence and click “Deactivate this Mac”. Then paste the same key on the new Mac. Old Mac lost or broken? Email hello@tealmac.com from your order email and we'll free the slot.
Yes, within 7 days of purchase for verified issues: if pinhole doesn't work as described on your Mac and we can't fix it, you get your money back. A change of mind isn't covered; that's what the free trial is for. Email hello@tealmac.com with your order email.
pinhole isn't notarised by Apple yet, so macOS asks you to confirm the first launch. Open it once, click Done, then go to System Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll down and click “Open Anyway” next to the pinhole message. You only do this once. The download page shows each step.
No. Captures, recordings, history and text recognition stay on your Mac; pinhole has no upload feature. The app only goes online to start your trial and check your licence, plus one anonymous message the first time it opens. The privacy page lists exactly what is sent.
macOS Sonoma 14 or later, on Apple silicon and Intel Macs. pinhole uses ScreenCaptureKit, so it needs the Screen Recording permission. Accessibility (for keystrokes and auto-scroll), Microphone and Camera are optional and asked for only when you use those features.
No. pinhole's default shortcuts (⇧⌘1 for the all-in-one toolbar, ⇧⌘2 for an area, and so on) stay clear of macOS's ⇧⌘3, ⇧⌘4 and ⇧⌘5. Change any shortcut in Settings › Shortcuts.
macOS hasn't granted Screen Recording yet. Open System Settings › Privacy & Security › Screen & System Audio Recording, switch pinhole on (or off and on again), then quit and reopen pinhole.
Another app may already use it. Open pinhole › Settings › Shortcuts and record a different one, or turn off the matching macOS shortcut in System Settings › Keyboard › Keyboard Shortcuts › Screenshots.
Click the pinhole icon in the menu bar, choose pinhole Pro…, paste the key under “Have a licence key?” and click Activate.
Search your inbox for the email from Dodo Payments, or write to hello@tealmac.com from your order email and we'll resend it.
Quit pinhole from its menu bar icon, then drag pinhole from Applications to the Bin. To remove its history and settings too, delete ~/Library/Application Support/pinhole. If you have a licence, deactivate it first in Settings › Licence so you can use it on another Mac.
