App grid + workspaces for macOS 26 Tahoe
Your app grid, back and better.
macOS 26 took Launchpad away. keytide brings the full-screen grid back with your own folders and order, and adds workspaces: one keystroke opens a whole task setup. One payment of $5.99, no subscription.
$5.99 once at launch, then $13.99 · key by email · 1 Mac · macOS 26+
The animation shows keytide on a Mac display: the app grid assembles, a search for “brwsr” finds Browser, a folder opens, then the Code workspace opens an editor, a browser and a console tiled side by side.
01Why keytide
Launchpad is gone. Your layout doesn't have to be.

03Only in keytide
Seven things no other launcher does.
Ask keytide
Say what you're about to do and keytide sets up your Mac for it: the right apps, your links and a window layout.
How Ask keytide worksAuto-workspaces
keytide notices the apps you always open together and offers to make them a workspace, and to open it for you at that time.
How Auto-workspaces worksThree mornings in a row, the same three apps around 9:10. keytide notices, and offers to make it a workspace. Desk time machine
Scrub back through your day and put your desk back exactly as it was: the same apps open, the same windows in the same places.
How Desk time machine worksTide grid
The grid washes in like a wave from wherever your pointer is, and pages follow your fingers with real momentum.
How Tide grid worksSummon anywhere
Shake the pointer to open the grid, or hold a key and say “keytide, open Safari”.
How Summon anywhere worksLeft: shake the pointer and the grid opens. Right: hold ⌃⌥K, say what you want, let go. Focus-aware grid
Each Focus decides what keytide shows: only your work folders during Work, only one workspace's apps while you study.
How Focus-aware grid worksSiri & Spotlight
Your workspaces and folders show up in Spotlight, and Siri can open them by name.
How Siri & Spotlight worksSpotlight finds your workspaces and folders; Return runs the workspace. Siri knows them by name.
04Features
Everything a launcher should do, and the bits nobody else does.
The grid, arranged by you
Full screen or a compact window. Choose rows, columns and icon size, drag icons anywhere, swipe between pages, move many at once, or sort A–Z, by category or by use.
Folders, as many as you like
Drop one app on another to make a folder. Rename it, give it a colour or an emoji, page or scroll inside it, or make several at once.
Search that forgives typos
Start typing the moment the grid opens. Missing letters, swapped letters and initials all find the app, and the keyboard does everything.
Workspaces
One keystroke opens a whole task: apps, files, folders and web links, each window where it belongs. Snapshot what's open into a new workspace, run it as a timed focus session, and close it to put everything back.
Window layouts
Each workspace remembers where every window goes: halves, thirds, a big main window with helpers beside it, on the display you choose.
Triggers
Start a workspace from the grid or its hotkey, on a schedule, when a Focus turns on, or when you plug in a display. Shortcuts actions and keytide:// links too.
Auto folders
One click sorts everything into folders by category, and you can edit the result. A smart folder gathers the apps you haven't opened in 90 days.
Layout history
Every change to your grid is kept on a timeline. Slide back to how it looked last Tuesday, before that clean-up went too far.
Uninstall with leftovers
Remove an app and the files it leaves in your Library, in one go. Everything goes to the Bin first, with Put Back if you change your mind.
Keyboard letter hints
Press a key and every icon gets a letter. Press the letter and it opens. No mouse, no searching, two keystrokes to any app.
Every display
The grid opens on the screen you're using. Pair it with a workspace that starts by itself when you plug in a display.
Quick actions
Right-click an app for its recent documents and open windows, Show in Finder, Copy Path, Hide or Quit. Drop a file on an icon to open it in that app.
Private by design
No telemetry, no account. Your grid, folders and workspaces stay on your Mac; keytide goes online only for your licence and updates.
05Workspaces
One keystroke. Your whole setup.
06Open it your way
However your hands already reach for it.
A hotkey
⌥Space by default, or any shortcut you record. Press it again to close.
The F4 key
On Mac keyboards with the Launchpad key (F4), that key opens keytide, just as it used to.
A hot corner
Push the pointer into the corner you pick. Per display, with a short delay so it never fires by accident.
A trackpad pinch
Pinch with your thumb and three fingers, like before. Spread them to close. Works on the built-in and external trackpads.
The Dock
Click keytide in the Dock. Or open it from the notch with hovernotch, or from a Shortcut.
Close it with esc or a click outside the grid. While you're typing a search, a stray click doesn't throw away what you typed.
07Privacy
Your Mac's layout is nobody's business.
No telemetry
No analytics, no tracking, no account. We don't know which apps you have or how you arrange them.
Stays on your Mac
Your grid, folders, workspaces, layout history, usage counts, learned app habits and desk history live in your Library folder. Ask keytide and voice run on your Mac's own models.
Online for two things
Activating and checking your licence, and looking for updates. Both send only what they need: a one-way hash of the Mac's ID and the app version.
Permissions you can see
Window layouts need Accessibility; voice commands need the microphone, only while you hold the key, and the audio is never kept. keytide asks when you first turn one on.

09Questions
Good questions, straight answers.
Apple removed Launchpad in macOS 26 Tahoe and replaced it with an Apps view inside Spotlight. That view sorts your apps for you: you can't make your own folders or put an app where you want it. keytide brings the full-screen grid back, with your folders and your arrangement.
Yes. If your Mac still has the Launchpad layout from before the upgrade, the welcome tour offers to import it and rebuilds your pages and folders in the same order. Using another launcher already? keytide can read its layout, or a backup file it exported, from Settings › General. Nothing is changed in the original, and starting fresh works too: keytide sorts your apps into folders by category.
Any way you like: the global hotkey (⌥Space by default, change it in Settings), the Dock icon, the small launcher in the menu bar, or the keytide card in the hovernotch notch, or the F4 / Launchpad key, a hot corner, or a pinch on the trackpad (experimental). Press Esc or click outside the grid to close it.
A set of apps, files, folders and web links that open together, each window placed where you want it. Pick “Code” and your editor, terminal and browser open tiled side by side; pick “Write” and you get your notes and sources instead. keytide can quit or hide the previous workspace's apps, or leave them alone.
Yes. Besides the grid and its own hotkey, a workspace can start on a schedule, when a Focus turns on (through a Shortcuts automation), or when you plug in a display. There are Shortcuts actions and keytide:// links too, so anything that runs a shortcut can open one.
Everything: the full-screen grid, your own folders and arrangement, instant typo-proof search, suggested apps, the menu bar launcher, right-click quick actions, importing from Launchpad or another launcher, workspaces with window layouts, snapshots and focus sessions, triggers, auto folders, layout history, keyboard letter hints, F4 and hot corners, uninstall with leftovers, and hiding and renaming apps. Plus the features only keytide has: Ask keytide, auto-workspaces, the desk time machine, the tide grid, shake and voice to open, Focus filters, and Siri & Spotlight. There are no tiers.
Type ? in keytide's search and say what you're about to do (“set me up for a client call”). keytide proposes a workspace: the apps, any links you mentioned and a window layout; Return runs it, ⌘S saves it. With Apple Intelligence on, the on-device model works out what the task needs and keytide's own index picks your installed apps, so it never invents one; otherwise keytide matches your words to what your apps do. Either way it runs on your Mac and nothing you type is sent anywhere.
Only which app opened and roughly when: the app's ID, the day and a five-minute time slot, kept for six weeks on your Mac. Never window titles, documents or anything inside an app. When the same three or more apps open together on three different days, keytide suggests a workspace. Turn learning off, or delete everything with Forget learned habits, in Settings › Smart.
Every 15 minutes while you're active (and just before a workspace opens or a restore), which apps are open or hidden, where their windows are and which workspace is active. No window titles or contents. Seven days are kept, then deleted, and Delete desk history in Settings › Smart removes it all. Window positions need Accessibility; without it, only the apps are noted.
No. Voice is off until you turn it on. Then keytide listens only while you hold the voice shortcut (⌃⌥K by default), recognises speech on your Mac, and never saves or sends the audio. It needs Microphone and Speech Recognition permission, asked for only when you switch it on. Shaking the pointer to open the grid needs no permission at all.
Yes. In System Settings › Focus, pick a Focus, then Focus filters › Add Filter › keytide, and choose folders, workspaces, or only one workspace's apps. While that Focus is on, the grid, the workspace bar, the menus and ⌘1–9 show just that; ⌘0 shows everything. When the Focus ends, everything comes back.
There's no free trial: keytide stays locked until you activate a licence key, on 1 Mac per key. The live demo on this page is a working miniature of the grid and workspaces, so you can get a feel for it first, and if keytide doesn't work as described on your Mac, the refund policy covers you.
It's a one-time purchase, not a subscription. At launch, until 4 Nov, it is $5.99; after that $13.99. One licence is for 1 Mac, and you can move it to another Mac from Settings › Licence.
macOS 26 Tahoe or later, on Apple silicon and Intel. That's where Launchpad is gone; earlier macOS versions still have it.
No. keytide is sold only from tealmac.com, as a direct download. That keeps the price low and lets keytide do the things a launcher needs, such as reading your old Launchpad layout and placing windows.
No. There's no telemetry and no analytics. Your grid, folders, workspaces and usage counts (for “most used” sorting) stay on your Mac. keytide goes online only to check your licence and for updates.
App names (typos are fine), or what an app does: “edit photos”, “web browser”, “open pdf”. Sums like 12*7+1 show the answer; press Return to copy it. Start with a colon for emoji (:rocket) and click one to copy it. Matching files from your home folder show up underneath, with Quick Look, Show in Finder, Copy and Move to Trash.
Yes. The Shortcuts app has Show keytide, Open Workspace, Start Focus Session, Close Workspace, Ask keytide and Open Desk Time Machine actions, and Siri understands “Open my Coding workspace in keytide”. Your workspaces and folders also show up in Spotlight. Settings › General installs a small keytide command (keytide workspace Coding, keytide focus Coding 50, keytide search notes), and keytide:// links work from anywhere that opens a URL.
No, keytide sticks to launching apps and setting up workspaces. Our other apps cover the rest: pinhole for screenshots and hovernotch for clipboard history in the notch. hovernotch can open keytide and show your current workspace from the notch.
Yes, within 7 days of purchase if keytide doesn't work as described on your Mac and we can't fix it. A change of mind about a licence that works as described isn't covered.
Press ⌥Space. Everything's where you left it.
