The app
keytide reads the list of apps on your Mac (the Applications folders and any extra folders you add) so it can show them in the grid. Your layout, folders, workspaces, layout history, the open counts used for “most used” sorting and the local log of app launches behind suggested apps are stored in ~/Library/Application Support/keytide on your Mac. Delete the app and that folder and nothing remains.
Launchpad import reads the old Launchpad layout file on your Mac, once, when you choose to import it. It never changes that file.
Accessibility is optional. It is used only to move and size windows (workspace layouts, restoring a desk) and to note window positions and list windows. keytide doesn't read what's inside your windows. Uninstall with leftovers looks for files belonging to the app you chose in your Library folders and moves them to the Bin; nothing is sent anywhere.
The smart features
All of these run on your Mac and store what they need in the same folder. None of it is sent anywhere, and each can be turned off or deleted in Settings › Smart (voice and shake: Settings › Opening).
Ask keytide uses Apple Intelligence's on-device model when it's turned on, and keytide's own keyword matching otherwise. What you type is never sent to us or to anyone else.
Auto-workspaces learn from app launches only: the app's ID, the day and a five-minute time slot, kept for six weeks. Never window titles, documents or anything inside an app. Learning can be turned off, and Forget learned habits deletes it all. Opening a suggested workspace at a time is never on unless you choose it.
Desk time machine notes, every 15 minutes while you're active and just before a workspace opens or a restore, which apps are open or hidden, where their windows are (with Accessibility) and which workspace is active. No window titles or contents. Seven days are kept, then deleted; Delete desk history removes it all.
Voice commands are off until you turn them on. Then keytide listens only while you hold the voice shortcut, recognises speech on your Mac (on-device recognition only), and never saves or sends the audio. They need Microphone and Speech Recognition permission, asked for only when you switch voice on. Shake to open watches pointer movement only and needs no permission.
Focus filters, Siri and Spotlight: the folders and workspaces you choose for a Focus are stored on your Mac until the Focus ends. Your workspace and folder names are added to your Mac's own Spotlight index so you can find them there, and removed when you turn that off.
Network: the app talks to our server only to activate and check your licence (when you activate a key and now and then after that), and checks for updates. It sends a device ID that is a one-way SHA-256 hash of your Mac's hardware ID, never the ID itself, so one Mac per licence works without an account. With a licence we also keep the key and the order email our payment provider gives us. There is no telemetry: no usage data, app lists, layouts or crash data are sent.
This website
The site makes no tracking calls: no analytics, no advertising, no cookies. It stores your light or dark theme choice in your browser's local storage, and asks our licence server for the current price and when the launch-price offer ends. That request carries nothing about you. The demo on the home page runs entirely in your browser.
Payments
Purchases are handled by Dodo Payments as merchant of record. They email your licence key; we never see your card details.
