keytide for Mac

Installation

One download is the whole app. Install it in about two minutes, activate the keytide Pro licence key we email you, and bring your Launchpad layout across.

Screens are drawn from macOS 26 Tahoe, the version keytide needs. Every step is also written out, so you can follow it without the pictures.

  1. Step 1

    Download keytide

    Every Download button on this site starts it in one click, or download keytide now. Your browser saves keytide.dmg to your Downloads folder (macOS 26 Tahoe or later · Apple silicon and Intel).

  2. Step 2

    Open the disk image and drag keytide to Applications

    Double-click the file in Downloads. A window opens with keytide and your Applications folder; drag keytide onto Applications.

    Then eject the disk image (the eject button next to “keytide” in the Finder sidebar) and delete the .dmg if you like.

  3. Step 3

    Open it once and click Done

    Open keytide from Applications. keytide isn't notarised by Apple yet, so macOS shows “keytide” Not Opened. Click Done (not Move to Bin). This is expected for apps sold outside the App Store that aren't notarised yet.

  4. Step 4

    Privacy & Security › Open Anyway

    Open System Settings › Privacy & Security and scroll down to Security. Next to “keytide was blocked to protect your Mac”, click Open Anyway, confirm with Open Anyway again and enter your password or use Touch ID.

    You only do this once. From then on keytide opens like any other app, and updates install without this step.

  5. Step 5

    Bring your Launchpad layout across

    The welcome window offers to import the Launchpad layout from before your upgrade: the same pages, folders and order. Choose Import layout, or Start fresh for a tidy grid sorted by category.

    Then pick how you'll open it: ⌥ Space is the default, and the F4 key, a hot corner and the trackpad pinch can be switched on in the same window.

  6. Step 6

    Optional: Accessibility, for window layouts

    Only if you use workspaces with a window layout: keytide needs Accessibility to move and size windows. It asks the first time; or open System Settings › Privacy & Security › Accessibility and switch keytide on. The grid, folders and search work without it.

  7. Step 7

    Activate your licence key

    Right-click the keytide icon in the menu bar, choose keytide Pro…, paste the key Dodo Payments emailed you after checkout under “Have a licence key?” and click Activate. keytide unlocks on this Mac straight away.

    There is no free trial: until a key is activated, keytide stays locked, and opening the grid shows the activation window instead. No key yet? Get keytide Pro.

  8. Step 8

    Uninstall (if you ever need to)

    Have a licence? Deactivate it first in Settings › Licence so you can use it on another Mac. Quit keytide from its menu bar icon and drag it from Applications to the Bin. To remove your layouts and workspaces as well, delete ~/Library/Application Support/keytide.

Before you download

keytide has no telemetry. It goes online only to check your licence and for updates; the privacy policy lists exactly what is sent. Stuck on a step? See support or email hello@tealmac.com.
