Install macslay+
For macOS 14 Sonoma or later, on Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
The first public download isn't published yet. This page will have the link when it is.
Install in four steps
1. Download and open the disk image
Open macslay-<version>.dmg and drag macslay+ into Applications.
2. Open it once
Open macslay+ from Applications. macOS says it can't verify the developer and doesn't open it. Click Done (not Move to Bin).
3. Allow it in System Settings
Open System Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll to Security, and click Open Anyway next to the message about macslay+. Confirm with your password or Touch ID.
4. Open it again
Click Open in the dialog. From now on macslay+ opens normally, like any other app.
Why macOS asks you to allow it
macslay+ isn't notarized by Apple yet, because that needs a paid Apple developer account we don't have yet. The app is the same either way: sandboxed, with no network access, and it only touches folders you choose. macOS just can't vouch for who made it, so it asks you to allow it once.
Check the download (optional)
To make sure the file is exactly the one we published, run this in Terminal and compare it with the checksum below.
shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/macslay-<version>.dmg <sha-256 published with each release>
